At Bone & Blossom Tattoo Studio, we believe in growth, education, and community—because tattooing is more than just an art; it’s a lifelong learning experience. That’s why three of our artists, Sara, April, and Lexie, recently attended Sessions, an immersive tattoo education seminar designed by and for tattoo artists.
Held in Tampa, Florida, in February 2025, this continuing educational event wasn’t just about refining tattooing techniques—it was about fostering connections, exploring creative inspiration, and strengthening the business side of tattooing. For us at Bone & Blossom, an inclusive tattoo shop in Lombard, IL, this was an opportunity to step outside our comfort zones, expand our knowledge, and bring back valuable insights to our studio and clients
Why Continuing Education Matters in Tattooing
Tattooing is an ever-evolving industry. New tools, techniques, and styles emerge constantly, and without continued learning, it’s easy to fall behind. At Bone & Blossom, a female-owned tattoo shop, we prioritize ongoing education to ensure we’re providing the best experience for our clients.
Sessions stood out to us because it wasn’t just another tattoo conference—it was an event created by tattoo artists, for tattoo artists, focusing on real, actionable progress. With workshops covering everything from technical precision to creative inspiration and business strategy, we walked away with fresh perspectives and renewed motivation.
Bringing Sessions to Bone & Blossom

The journey to Sessions started with April, who attended the first seminar in 2024 and immediately knew it was something special. She recommended it to Sara, Bone & Blossom’s owner, who saw an incredible opportunity for the shop. Investing in professional development isn’t just about individual growth—it’s about building a stronger, more connected tattoo community.
Although not all of our artists were able to attend this time, those who did had a phenomenal experience. Here’s what we took away:
Lexie sharpened her skills in American traditional techniques, expanding her knowledge of shading and contrast.
April deepened her understanding of client relationships and tattoo longevity, learning new approaches to designing for all skin tones.
Sara explored strategies for running a successful, inclusive tattoo shop, ensuring that Bone & Blossom continues to be a welcoming space for clients and artists alike.
Looking Ahead: What This Means for Our Clients & Community

Bringing these lessons back to Bone & Blossom Tattoo Studio in Lombard, IL, means we can better serve our clients, refine our craft, and stay at the forefront of the tattoo industry. The techniques and insights we gained will allow us to:
✔️ Enhance our artistry—pushing boundaries with new styles and techniques.
✔️ Improve the client experience—from consultation to aftercare, ensuring every tattoo is intentional and meaningful.
✔️ Strengthen our community—supporting other artists, sharing knowledge, and continuing to make Bone & Blossom an inclusive, welcoming space.
