Guest Artists at Bone & Blossom: Why We Open Our Doors
One of the things I never wanted Bone & Blossom to become was closed off.
Tattooing already has enough gatekeeping in it. So when artists reach out about guest spots, I don’t just look at it as filling a chair—I look at it as an opportunity to bring something new into the space.
Guest artists shift the energy of a studio in the best way. They bring different perspectives, different techniques, and different life experiences—and that benefits everyone: the artists, the clients, and the shop as a whole. As a Tattoo Studio Lombard IL, that’s something we want to keep building on.

Welcoming Krystel Ivannie to Bone & Blossom
Recently, we had the opportunity to host guest artist Krystel Ivannie, and it was exactly the kind of experience that reminds me why guest spots matter.
Krystel reached out while she was traveling to Chicago for the Villain Arts Tattoo Festival at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Her schedule for the convention was already fully booked, and she extended her stay to continue working with clients in the area.
What stood out to me wasn’t just her experience—it was the intention behind her message.
She said she felt an immediate connection to the atmosphere of our studio.
That matters.
Because Bone & Blossom isn’t just about the tattoos—it’s about the environment we’re creating.
What Guest Artists Bring Into the Studio
Krystel has over 15 years of experience and works across a wide range of styles, including:
Puerto Rican cultural imagery
Watercolor
Stippling
Cover-ups
Illustrative tattooing
That kind of range adds something valuable to the studio. Not just visually—but technically.
When you bring in someone who approaches tattooing differently, it challenges everyone in the room to:
Think differently
Ask questions
Re-evaluate their own process
That kind of growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when artists share space.
Expanding What We Offer Our Clients
From a client perspective, guest artists open up opportunities that don’t always exist locally.
At a Walk In Tattoo Shop Lombard IL and appointment-based studio like ours, we already offer:
Custom Tattoo Lombard IL work
Color Tattoo Lombard IL designs
Black and Grey Tattoo Lombard IL pieces
Neo-Traditional Tattoo Lombard IL styles
But when a guest artist comes in, it expands that even further.
Clients get access to:
New styles
Different techniques
Artists they might not otherwise be able to book
And in Krystel’s case, that included highly specialized work rooted in cultural storytelling and illustrative detail. That’s not something you can replicate—it’s something you bring in.
Why This Matters for the Studio
As an Inclusive Tattoo Studio Lombard IL, we’re always thinking about how to keep the space evolving.
Guest spots help us:
Avoid creative stagnation
Stay connected to the larger tattoo community
Keep learning without leaving our own studio
It also reinforces something important:
We’re not trying to be everything ourselves. We’re building a space where different artists can contribute. That mindset changes the culture of a studio.
The Energy Shift Is Real
Every time we bring in a guest artist, the energy shifts.
There’s more conversation.More curiosity.More movement in the space.
Clients are asking questions. Artists are watching each other work. Ideas are being exchanged in real time.
That’s the kind of environment I want Bone & Blossom to be known for.
Not just a place that produces good tattoos—but a place where artists are actively engaged in their craft.
What We Look for in Guest Artists
Not every guest spot is the right fit—and that’s okay.
For us, it comes down to:
Respect for the craft
Openness to collaboration
Alignment with the environment we’ve built
When someone reaches out and says they feel connected to the space before even stepping into it—that’s usually a good sign. That’s exactly what happened with Krystel.
Looking Ahead
We’re going to keep hosting guest artists.
Because every time we do, it adds something new:
To our artists
To our clients
To the overall experience of the studio
And as we continue to grow as a Tattoo Studio Lombard IL, that outside influence is part of what keeps us from becoming stagnant.
If You’re Interested in Booking or Guesting
If you’re a client, keep an eye out when we announce guest spots—you might get the chance to work with an artist you wouldn’t normally have access to.
If you’re an artist, and you feel like you’d align with what we’re building here, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Because at the end of the day, Bone & Blossom isn’t just about who works here full-time.
It’s about the people who pass through, contribute, and leave their mark on the space.
Bone & Blossom Tattoo StudioAn evolving, collaborative Tattoo Studio Lombard IL built on connection, creativity, and shared growth.
